Star twinkle because of atmospheric refraction and when the light comes from the star enters in our earth atmosphere the it bent toward the imaginary line i.e normal and another reason is earth has different layers of different densities.
Due to atmospheric refraction. Between earth and star there are several layer of air some are hot and some are cold which work as rarer and denser medium due to which star appears to twinkle
