Their is very large distance b/w star s and earth so when light ray comes to earth the it passes 100of mediums so due various atmpsphere tempreature light ray refrected many times and due to atmospheric refraction stars like to twinkling and appear higher distance
Yaah , due to atmospheric refraction the light coming from stat bends towards the normal due to which it appears higher
