The process of electrolysis of Nacl(sodium chloride) is known as chlor alkali process because of the products chlor for chlorine gas and alkali for NaOH (base). 2NaCl + 2H2O = 2NaOH + Cl2 + H2
A electrolytic decomposition reaction in which both chlorine and a base is formed.
When wo pass electric current through a brime solution (aqueous solution of NaCl). The electrolytic decomposition reaction take place and sodium hydroxide is the product that is form in this reaction. Cl gas and H2 gas are collected in Anode(+) and Cathoh(-) respectively

When the sodium chloride decomposed to many substance produced is known as chlro alkali process
The formation of caustic soda or sodium hydroxide is called Chlor- alkali process
When electricity is passed through an aqueous solution of sodium chloride, it decomposes to form sodium hydroxide. The process is called chlor-alkali because of the products formed- chlor for chlorine and alkali for sodium hydroxide

When electricity is passed through brine solution it decompose to form chlorine, hydrogen and alkali .In this process chlorine and alkali is formed, so it is called chlor alkali process
during electrolysis chlorine gas is produced at the anode positive electrode and hydrogen gas is produced at the end cathode negative electrode Sodium hydrogen solution is formed in near by the cathode the process of electrolysis of sodium chloride solution brain is called chlor alkali process because of the products formed flour for chlorine and alkali for Sodium Hydroxide.
