There are three states of matter. The three states of matter are inter-convertible. A solid on heating gets converted into a liquid and a liquid into a gas.
Each physical form of any substance is a different phase, whenever one phase changes into another, certain amount of heat is either evolved or absorbed. Most commonly observed phase transitions are
