Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) affects photosynthetic tissue of the infected plant. Other statements can be corrected as TMV affects all dicotyledonous plants, of which most important are tobacco and tomato. But it does not affect any monocotyledonous plant. TMV is a ssRNA virus, it infects a wide range of plants, especially tobacco and other members of the family Solanaceae. TMV does not infect gymnosperms.
