The irony inthe poem is this that King Ozymandias got many statues constructed toimmortalize himself, but neither he himself was spared nor his statues. As thetime elapsed, he grew old and finally died. Similarly, all his statues wereterribly broken. People soon forgot him and his memories were thrown into oblivion.
