Cillary muscles hold the eye lens in its position. When these muscles are relaxed, the lens becomes thin and its focal length increases. This enables us to see distant objects clearly. When we look at nearby objects, these muscles contract. As a result, lens becomes thicker and its focal length decreases. This enables us to see nearby objects clearly.
