An agreement between Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi was signed 84 years ago on September 24, 1932. The agreement was signed by Pt Madan Mohan Malviya and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and some Dalit leaders at Yerwada Central Jail in\xa0Pune, to break Mahathma Gandhi\’s fast unto death.This is known as Poona pact

Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was nominated as a delegate of the oppressed classes for the Second Round Table Conference. In that Round Table Conference, he clashed with Mahatma Gandhi by demanding separate electorates for the Dalits.\xa0When the British Government accepted the Ambedkar\’s demand, Gandhiji began a\xa0fast unto death.\xa0He believed that separate electorates for the Dalits would slow down the process of their integration into the society. This issues was eventually resolved through the\xa0Poona Pact of September 1932.It gave the Depressed classes (which later came to be known as The Scheduled Castes) reserved seats in the provincial and central legislative councils, but they were to be voted in by the general electorate.Hope so it will help u…

The Poona Pact refers to an agreement between B. R. Ambedkar and M. K. Gandhi made on 24 September 1932 at Yerwada Central Jail in Poona, India. It was signed by Madan Mohan Malviya, Ambedkar and some other leaders as a means to end the fast that Gandhi was undertaking at the jail.He had been protesting the decision by British Prime Minister Ramsay Macdonald to give separate electorates to Dalits for the election of members of provincial legislative assemblies in British India.
Poona pact gave the depressed classes reserved seats in provincial and central legislative councils but they were to be voted in by the general election
