When soap molecules are present in water, the molecules arrange themselves in the form of a cluster in such a manner that their hydrophobic ends are away from the water molecules, and their hydrophilic or ionic ends are towards the water molecules. This is known as micelle formation and the cluster that is formed is called a micelle.Applications of Micelles\tThey are widely used in electrophoresis and chromatography as a media of separation.\tThey are termed as efficient favorable nano-carries in various applications namely gene delivery, diagnostic imaging, and drug.\tMicelles act as emulsifiers when surfactants are above the critical micelle concentration allowing a compound to dissolve which are usually insoluble. For instance, detergents, which clean lipophilic materials that are less soluble which can not be removed with the help of water alone.\tThey are required in the human body that plays a vital role in the removal of complex lipids and fat-soluble vitamins.
