When no external forces act on system of bodies then the total linear momentum is conserved, it is known as the Law of conservation of momentum. m1u1+m2u2 = m1v1 + m2v2
The sum of total momentum before the collision is equal to the the sum of total momentum after the collision
For a collision occurring between object 1 and object 2 in an isolated system, the total momentum of the two objects before the collision is equal to the total momentum of the two objects after the collision.
