Size of lithium is very small as compared to sodium.Due to high effective nuclear charge of lithium it is unable to show ionic nature and hence bond b\\w Li and Cl is covalent whereas Na shows ionic nature due to less effective nuclear charge. Na can donate e- this makes it ionic and hence forms ionic bond.
