Let A and B be two sets such that n(A) = 3 and n(B) = 2. If (x,1), (y,2), (z,1) are in A × B, write A and B.
n(A) = 3 ⇒ set A contains 3 elements
n(B) = 2 ⇒ set B contains 2 elements –
We are given (x, 1), (y, 2), (z, 1) are elements in A × B ⇒ A = {x, y, z} and B = {1, 2}
Here,
A×B ={(x,1) ,(y,2) ,(z,1)} and n(A) = 3, n(B) = 2
We know,
A×B = {(x,y) : xϵA and yϵ B}
∴ A = {x,y,z} and B = {1,2}
