President is the nominal head of the country and represents Indian republic. He has to perform following functions-(i) He appoints Prime Minister although he has to appoint the leader of majority party as the PM.(ii) All government activities take place in the name of the President.(iii) All laws and major policy decisions of the government are issued in her name.(iv) All major appointments are made in the name of the President. These include the appointment of Chief Justice of India, the Judges of the Supreme Court and the High Courts, the Election Commissioners and ambassadors to other countries.(v) All international treaties and agreements are made in the name of the President.(vi) A bill passed by the parliament becomes law only after the President gives assent to it.
