Fertilization refers to a process exclusive with sexual reproduction where there is fusion of of both the the gametes to stabilize the normal count of chromosomes and form the zygote.Germination is a process exclusive of plants which refers to the development of seed into a sapling with the help of certain abiotic factors like water, minerals, soil , temp., etc.
Fertilization means fusion of male gamete with female gamete while germination means growing of seed into plant
