In\xa0direct current\xa0(DC), the electric charge (current) only flows in one direction. Electric charge in\xa0alternating current\xa0(AC), on the other hand, changes direction periodically. The voltage in\xa0AC\xa0circuits also periodically reverses because the current changes direction.
