The term geography was first coined by Eratosthenese, a Greek scholar (276- 194 BC.). The word has been derived from two Greek words geo (earth) and graphos (description), which it means description of the earth. The study of the physical features of the earth and its atmosphere, and of human activity as it affects and is affected by these, including the distribution of populations and resources and political and economic activities.
