LIf a 4 ohm resistance wire is doubled and connected in series 4 +4 =8 ohms it will be,or if it is connected in parallel it will be 1/4+1/4 =2 ohms . as per the formula R =r1 +r 2 if they are connected in series, if they are connected in parallel, 1 /R =1 /r1 +1/r2.
A 4 ohm wire is doubled on it. Calculate the new resistance of the wire?

Dear abhisek it is the complete question
We consider wire is doubled on it means to fold the length of wire. It means its length will get half and area of cross section will get doubled.∴ Let the resistance of the wire originally \’R\’ of length \’L\’ and area of crosssection \’A\’ with resistivity of material is \’p\’,ThenR = p l/A = 4ΩNow, for new arrangement,p\’ = pl\’ = l / 2A\’ = 2AThus,\xa0R\’ = p\’ l\’/A\’ = p (l /2)\xa0÷ 2A = !/4 (p l / A) = 1/4R = 1/4\xa0× 4 = 1Ω.
