It is the liquid part of the\xa0blood\xa0that carries cells and proteins throughout the body. It makes up about 55% of the body\’s total\xa0blood\xa0volume.\xa0Plasma\xa0constitutes 55% of total\xa0blood\xa0volume. Composed of 90% water, salts, lipids and hormones, it is especially rich in proteins (including its main protein albumin), immunoglobulins, clotting factors and fibrinogen.
